They may be the newest top-division club in the world, but the Philadelphia Union held their own against the grand old master of English soccer, Manchester United FC, Wednesday night. Blessed with stars who make more in a week than many Union players earn in an entire year, the “visitors”, a team of such stature that they can command a home crowd in any corner of the globe, came out to entertain the forty-four thousand fans who came to see them at Lincoln Financial Field.

The Union picked the first ten players in franchise history on Wednesday in the MLS Expansion Draft and made a trade for another as the 2010 roster began to take shape. Some of the more notable selections for this “First XI” are Sebastien Le Toux (Seattle Sounders) and Alejandro Moreno (Columbus Crew). The following is the complete list of selections:

On a mild October night on the University of Pennsylvania campus, a bunch of SoB’s got together with the Philadelphia Union staff to participate in the clubs very first commercial shoot.
Smoke bombs were going off. Faces were painted. Spirits were high and the atmosphere was energetic as the shot progressed. The highlight of the event wasn’t even captured in the final footage. Union head coach Peter Nowak decided to get in on the game and take a few penalty kicks…in a full suit!
