The 2011 River Cup was a big event for Sons of Ben and proved to be huge success overall despite falling to the Union Staff 2-1. The 2012 River Cup is shaping up to be an even bigger event and while we will focus on making this a massive charity fundraiser, we will be even more focused on taking back our trophy!
The Sons of Ben’s annual Help Kick Hunger blowout fundraiser party is back! We’ll be at McFadden’s at Citizens Bank Park again this year. As always, proceeds go to groups working to fight hunger in Chester and the surrounding areas.

On Thursday, October 20th Sons of Ben will take over the echo chamber called Red Bull Arena! This is THE BIG ROAD TRIP of the Year, it’s the final game of the regular season, and could determine the Eastern Conference winner! We want as many people as we can get to fill the 10 buses we’re looking to reserve. It’s going to be a hell of a party on the trip up, during the 3 hour tailgate, and during the match! CHESTER, Pa. – Philadelphia Union and the Sons of Ben, the club’s supporters group, released today their official rosters for the inaugural River Cup that will take place at PPL Park on July 15. The charity event will feature some of the Union’s ownership including Jay Sugarman (Chairman), Nick Sakiewicz (CEO & Operating Partner) and Rob Buccini (investor) as well as executives and technical staff including Peter Nowak (Team Manager/Executive Vice President of Soccer Operations), John Hackworth (Coach), Rob Vartughian (Assistant Coach/Goalkeeper Coordinator) and Brendan Burke (Reserve Team Head Coach and Assistant Youth Director).
Chester, Pa. (May 26, 2011) – Philadelphia Union’s staff will square off against the Sons of Ben, the team’s supporters club, in their inaugural River Cup charity match at PPL Park on July 15, the two organizations jointly announced today. The 6:30 p.m. game will benefit one of the Union’s community partners, Chester City United, with all proceeds going to the local youth soccer organization.
